Dasuki: Court summons APC governorship candidate

The Federal High Court  sitting in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba state has summoned the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for Taraba, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi over alleged corrupt practices.

Granting the application of the Economic and  Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),  Justice Stephen Daniel Pam of the Federal High Court stressed the need for the Danladi who was described as the ” third defendant” to appear physically before the court on the 5th of December,2018.

Dalandi, along side with some top government officials from the state, are presently standing trial on offenses ranging from conspiracy to obtaining the sum of N450million without passing through due financial processes.

Overwhelmed by the decision of the court to grant his application, the EFCC lawyer, Ahamad Muntaka said should the gubernatorial flag bearer of the APCor Taraba state fail to appear before the court on the aforementioned date, the court may be left with no option than to ” issue a bench warrant.”

Citing section 113 and 114, of the Administration of Criminal Justice 2015, Danladi who was the former Acting Governor of the state along side those standing trial with him had no legal backing to withdraw from the state’s treasury the sum of N450million without passing through a financial institution.”

Certain that EFCC would triumph in the case, he noted that ” after the Summon is effected on him and he refuses to show up we can go ahead to move the court to issue bench warrant of arrest on him .”

The counsel to the third defendant. Yakubu Maikasuwa, who expressed his willingness to make all the processes available to his client was optimistic that Danladi would be in court in December.

The said amount as gathered by Quick News Africa, was part of the amount doled out by the former National Security Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan for elections campaign in 2015.
