Windows Phone 8 to be released in November?

According to ZDNet, that cites an anonymous source, Windows Phone 8 (WP8)–and the first devices running it–could be made available in November. We’re expecting Nokia, HTC, Huawei and Samsung to lead the charge with the first wave of new WP8 devices.

ZDNet’s source also claims that the release to manufacturing (RTM) version of Apollo OS will take place in September. This means that is when handset makers will receive the new software to run their upcoming smartphones on.

Microsoft has not officially confirmed these dates, but just last week, announced general availability of Windows 8 for October 26. We’re also waiting for news as to when current WP7.5 devices will be able to upgrade to WP7.8.

First unveiled last month, WP8 is a “generational change” from WP7.5, and brings with it a host of new features such as a different start screen, near-field communications (NFC) capabilities and support for multicore processors.
