Abducted Ekiti lawmaker dies in DSS Custody says government

AYO-FAYOSE-1One of the abducted members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr. Afolabi Akanni has died in the custody of the Department Of State Security (DSS). This was made known by the Ekiti State Commissioner of Information, Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Lanre Ogunsuyi in terse press release. The Commissioner urged residents of the State particularly from Efon constituency to remain calm.

It will be recalled that the honourable member has been in the Department of State Security (DSS) custody since March 4, 2016. A court order directing their release since march 11, 2016 was not honoured by the Department of State Security (DSS). The lawmakers had been held without access to their lawyers, family members and doctors.

The Department of State Security (DSS) is yet to affirm or deny the death of the law maker.
