10 books shortlisted for 2012 Nigeria Literature Prize
The Advisory Board of the Nigeria Prize for Literature led by Professor Emeritus Ayo Banjo has announced the initial shortlist of 10 books for the 2012 Literature prize.
The list was presented by the Chairman, panel of judges for this year’s prize, Professor Francis Abiola Irele.
The List in alphabetical order of the author’s surnames according to a statement by Ifeanyi Mbanefo, Manager, Corporate Communications and Public Affars, Nigeria LNG Limited, is as follows.
Ngozi Achebe Onaedo: The Blacksmith’s Daughter.
Ifeanyi Ajaegbo: Sarah House
Jude Dibia: Bblackbird
Vincent Egbuson: Zhero
Adaobi Tricia Nwuban: I Do Not Come to You by Chance
Onuora Nzekwu: Troubled Dust
Olusola Olugbesan: Only a Canvas
Lola Shoneyin: The Secret lives of Baba Segi’s Wives
EE Sule: Sterile Sky
Chike Unigwe On Black Sister’s Street
The final shortlist will be rleased soon.
The Nigeria Prize for Literature rotates yearly amongst four literary genres: prose fiction, poetry, drama and children’s literature.
The 2012 prize for prose fiction comes with a cash prize of $100,000.
